Volunteering

Volunteers are a huge part of AYSO.  In fact, AYSO is an all volunteer organization.

There are lots of ways for you to help, big and little.  Becoming a team parent is one.  We always need coaches, assistant coaches, and referees.  There are jobs getting the fields ready each week, working with the web site, and helping with running the region.  We provide plenty of training.  See the info below about these jobs, and please talk with your coach or send an email to [email protected] to help.

  • Team Parent: Every coach needs help getting forms signed, arranging snacks & water for games, making calls when rain or snow makes practice impractical, and keeping an energetic team in line on the sidelines. You’re making a difference for a whole team – a team that includes your child. It’s a great way to make your child’s team a family experience.
  • Coach & Assistant Coach: There’s plenty of training to help you become a coach and learn more about soccer.  If you’d like to explore becoming a coach, contact the Coach Administrator ([email protected]) or explore the AYSO on-line training for coaches.  You will need an AYSO ID number to get started.  See "What’s My AYSO Number" in the FAQs for more info.
  • Referee: All kinds of people with all kinds of soccer experience (including no experience) become referees.  Anyone age 12 or older can become a referee.  We’ll provide you with the training and the equipment to get started.  Parents and children can work together as referees, and some youth referees have discovered sports officiating careers from their experiences.  See "How Can I Become A Referee" in the FAQs for more info.
  • Field Assistance: There are lots of ways to help with getting the fields ready each week, some of which are pretty flexible about when they can be done.  Send an email to [email protected] to get more information.
  • Web Site: There are all sorts of ways to help with the web site and web presence. Some require more computer expertise, others just require being able to write well.  Contact the webmaster ([email protected]) if you’d like to help with the web site, Facebook, Twitter, marketing, or other electronic aspects of AYSO.
  • Other Jobs: There are lots of other ways to help with the operation of the region.  If you’re interested in helping with the finances, registration, coach administration, referee administration, or other aspects of region operations, please send an email to [email protected].
