New AYSO128 Regional Commissioner

Congratulations to Denis J Clancy who has taken on the challenge of becoming the new AYSO128 Regional Commissioner. He takes over from Chris Stafford, beginning with the Fall season, and we're excited for both of them as they take on their new challenges.

For those of you who don't know, it is the Regional Commissioner (RC) that provides the leadership for an AYSO Region to really make a difference in children’s lives. The local Regions are the front line of the program and they require dedicated and thoughtful leadership. There are many other volunteer Region board members but it is the RC who brings them all together to make the program really work.

When you see him, please take the time to thank our previous RC - Chris Stafford - for his dedication and hard work to make AYSO128 a success for the kids.

A full list of AYSO128 Region Board Members can be found at the Contact Us page

AYSO128 SPRING 2011

We had a great first weekend for matches!  The weather was beautiful and the coaches, parents and referees make a great team to support the players. Just some gentle reminders as you proceed through the season:

  1. The most basic tenent of AYSO is that we all work together to keep the practices and games FUN, SAFE and FAIR!  We want to teach the players to play soccer well and to enjoy the beautiful game.  Winning is great but it is not the focus of AYSO.

  2.  NO jewelry of any kind is permitted in practices or games.  That includes newly pierced ears.  Under no circumstances are we allowed to permit players on the pitch with earrings in.  This is a safety issue and is policy from AYSO National on down to our region.  It is possible that some coach or referee incorrectly allow a player on the field with earrings in the past but we will be strictly adhering to this requirement and we appreciate your support. (One exception is for medic alert bracelets or necklaces for medical conditions and there are approved methods for dealing with these items.)

  3. No pets and no tobacco products of any kind on the grass at the fields.

  4. Unfortunately we have already had a break-in of a car window and a purse stolen at the upper parking lot. Please take care to keep your valuables in your possession or other secure location.  Having valuables stolen really takes the fun out of the day.

Finally, we have a new program that we're kicking off called the AYSO128 VIP Program for special needs players. The Co-coordinator and Coach for this group is Alan Devan and the VIP sessions will be held each Saturday on Pellissippi Field #4 from 1:00PM to 2:30PM. Please contact Alan if you have questions. Here is a link to the brochure (be patient with the download, it's a large file) and a link to the AYSO National VIP Program info.

   only for divisions needing players

We need more volunteers!  As you know, AYSO operates only using non-paid volunteers at every level.  Not only could we use more coaches and referees, we need additional people to help the Regional Board in some capacity.  For example, there is an opening for a Coaching Administrator (a person who can organize and assist the coaches) but there are many other areas where your particular talents could be used.  Please let the Regional Commissioner - Chris Stafford know of your interest via e-mail.

Soccer is a wonderful, fun sport for your kids – have a say in how the region is run and make sure that it remains a place you want to send your children.

Remember, kids are THE focus for AYSO!
